Today is Sunday and the whole family has gone out for
lunch at a restaurant. Everyone is eating happily. Everyone, that is,
but me. I've got a bite of food in my mouth but I don't want to chew it.
I don't want to swallow it, and I don't want to spit it out. "Rose
darling," says my Dad. "Why are you being so stubborn? We haven't gone
out for lunch so that you can eat crisps." I don't answer. I'm upset.
Dad had said that we could have hamburgers for lunch but now they
ordered something else. Fortunately I brought my crisps with me! I will
do only what I want and I won't change my mind! |

then I'd secretly go and eat a biscuit until I'd eaten them all up. But
then, my tummy started hurting and I couldn't play any more...

The
birds of a distant island did whatever pleased them without ever wondering
if they bothered the others. They thought that this was what freedom was
meant to be. Then, the patronizing peacock had them wear iron shackles on
their feet so that they would not be able to fly high. In this way they
were forced to do what they had to. The nightingale showed them the way to
do what they had to do without being enslaved.
